Positioner

The Model PC 2000 is an electronic positioner designed to modulate electric-motor-driven actuators used on valves, dampers and other devices which require accurate positioning control. In response to an error signal between the input command signal and the position feedback signal, the PC 2000 solid state positioner supplies power to the motor, thereby driving the actuator in the direction necessary to reduce the error signal to zero.

Improved power switching components designed specifically for inductive loads which are typical of actuator motors. This means fewer problems in the field. One jumper to easily and quickly set the fail
Mode of the PC 2000 in the field in case of
“loss of command signal.”
Output current rated at 5 amps for 120 Vac, with heatsink mounting bracket for internally mounted positioners. Connect/disconnect terminal connector for
quick and easy installation and troubleshooting of the board.
Three adjusting potentiometers to facilitate
Matching the positioner with the range of the
Input signal means greater flexibility.
Internally mounts in RCS actuator models
MAR-8RH, MAR-10,  MAR-50, MAR-90,
MAR-100, MAR-160, MAR-250, MAR-800, SURE 49 and SURE 100.
CSA approved.
Specifications

Power Requirements:
Single phase 120 or 230 Vac ±10%, 50/60 Hz., (fused)

Internal d.c. power supply ±  Vdc, 2.4 VA, (fused)

Input Signal:
4 – 20 mAdc; 10 – 50 mAdc; 1 – 5 Vdc and 0 – 10 Vdc;  Potentiometer 1000 Ohms.

Impedance, respectively:
249 Ohms; 100 Ohms; 10 kiloOhms;

Other signals are available.

Power Output:
120 Vac at 5.0 A, dual channel output, isolated from command signal input. All solid state.

Sensitivity:
±0.6% of the total input signal span for a 30 seconds travel time of the actuator’s shaft.

Dead Band:
0.1 to 10% of the total signal span.

Zero Adjustment:
50% of span range.

Span Adjustment:
50% of span at low signal end.

Split Range of Command Signal:
Built in for up to 50% of the span by adjusting in the field ZERO and SPAN potentiometers. For example, the Split Range can be 4 – 12mA or 12 – 20mA.

Ambient Temperatures:
-10°F to 150°F
-40°F to 150°F with heater

At the Loss of Command Signal:
The positioner can be set to drive the actuator to one of the following three fail modes:
1. To maintain the last position;
2. To be driven in the minimum signal position;
3. To be driven in the maximum signal position.

Rotation Indicator:
Red light indicates rotation toward minimum signal
position. Green light indicates rotation toward
maximum signal position.

Shown above is a PC 2000 electronic positioner which mounts easily inside RCS models: MAR-8RH, MAR-10, MAR-50, MAR-90, MAR-100, MAR-160, MAR-250, MAR-800, SURE 49 and Sure 100.

Control Adjustments

Zero:
This adjustment will compensate for up to 50%
Variation in the low end of span

Span:
This control adjusts the feedback circuit to be in
Compliance with the span range of the input
Command signal.

Dead Band:
This adjustment determines the amount of error signal allowed before the controller drives the actuator. It controls hunting and helps to match the actuator to the dynamic characteristics of the system.
